Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is seeking a Senior National Service Officer–Appeals to advocate for veterans and their families before the VA. This role combines legal analysis, case management, and strategic appeal development in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to Veterans benefits.
• Extensive knowledge of the Appellate Process.
• Qualified to advise claimants and assist in preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims before the VA.
• Demonstrated proficiency developing appellate and higher-level legal arguments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in VA electronic systems, including appeals.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions for VLJ review, including complex cases.
• Ensure proper drafting, editing, and management of appealed issues before the BVA.
• Review evidence credibility and probative value in claims files.
• Manage appeals dockets information and distribution to field staff.
• Prepare appellate briefs and conduct hearings docketed at the Board of Veterans Appeals.
• Assist training teams to educate teammates on appellate best practices.
