Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is seeking a Senior National Service Officer-Appeals to advocate for veterans and dependents, handling complex appeals before VA and related bodies. You will craft arguments, manage case files, and mentor the Benefits Services team.

The role requires deep knowledge of veterans law, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to work across departments to improve outcomes for clients.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to Veterans benefits (38 U.S.C. and CFR).
• Extensive knowledge of the appellate process and VA systems.
• Ability to draft, edit, and manage appeals before the VA and courts.
• Strong research and analytical skills; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions for review by VLJ, including complex cases.
• Manage dockets and distribute electronically to field staff.
• Prepare appellate briefs and conduct hearings docketed at BVA.
• Review Board decisions and prepare cases for Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
• Support training for Benefits Services teammates on appellate practices.
• Conduct research and provide support to policy and government affairs teams.
• Build relationships with BVA leadership and Veterans Service Organizations.
