Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project is seeking a Senior National Service Officer-Appeals to advocate for veterans and their families before VA appeals. The role emphasizes drafting, reviewing, and managing appeals under AMA and legacy systems, with collaboration across Benefits Services and policy teams.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge of Veterans benefits law and the appellate process, plus strong research, writing, and stakeholder relation skills to support missions and training activities.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to Veterans benefits (38 USC & CFR).
• Extensive knowledge of the Appellate Process and VA proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions for review by a Veterans Law Judge (VLJ).
• Manage appeals dockets and distribute electronically to field staff.
• Prepare appellate briefs and conduct hearings docketed at the Board of Veterans Appeals.
• Review Board decisions and determine cases for Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
• Assist Benefits Training to train teammates on best practices for VA appeals.
