Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Senior Underwriting Consultant for a remote role open to any location in the continental US. This position evaluates high-impact applications, analyzes decisions within underwriting policies, and guides junior colleagues.

You will lead complex underwriting cases, audit processes, train staff, and collaborate with management. Strong underwriting knowledge, experience, and interpersonal skills are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of underwriting experience or exposure.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting functions and John Hancock's businesses.
• Strong knowledge of referral areas.
• Excellent ability to create and maintain customer relationships.
• Ability to prioritize and work effectively under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Identify and provide solutions to workflow or system issues.
• Negotiate and manage time/resources to meet deadlines.
• Provide training and act as an information resource for junior underwriters.
• Process auditing, formal appeal reviews and contestable claim reviews.
• Audit underwriting decisions and documentation for guidelines and policies.
• Audit medical record summaries for guideline adherence.
