Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an Underwriting Specialist in Contract for E&S/Specialty to determine risk acceptability, pricing, and terms for complex accounts. You’ll work with general agents, reinsurers and program managers to achieve production and loss ratio goals in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes independent work, reinsurance placement, and potential mentoring of junior underwriters.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, ASLI designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews risks with assigned agents to decide acceptance/decline.
• Quotes, prices and underwrites new and renewal policies for complex accounts.
• Manages reinsurance placement and analyzes loss history for pricing decisions.
• Fosters relationships with general agents and reinsurers to drive profitability.
• Develops product forms, manuals and training with senior underwriters.
