Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Specialist for the Specialty Human Services division. This fully remote role supports the Northeast territory, with a preference for candidates in the Northeast or Illinois/Wisconsin.

You will evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business, analyze risk data, and collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather information while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of underwriting or related experience; professional designation preferred (AU/CPCU/CIC/INS/ARM).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business per guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyzes risk data to determine coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information.
• Orders and reviews reports and screens (motor vehicle, loss history, inspections) to inform decisions.
• Communicates underwriting decisions clearly to internal teams and clients; stays updated on regulations.
