Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company seeks an experienced Underwriting Consultant in Brokerage Casualty to underwrite risks, determine pricing and policy terms, and manage broker relationships and reinsurance placement.

You will collaborate with actuarial, finance and claims teams, develop new classes of business, mentor junior underwriters, and travel to broker offices as needed in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• Eight years CL underwriting experience handling large or complex accounts, E&S/Specialty preferred.
• Knowledge of complex CL underwriting policies, practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with reinsurance concepts and market dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite risks with high technical complexity, set terms and conditions and determine endorsements.
• Develop rates with actuarial support and assess broker submissions for profitability and risk.
• Place reinsurance per department guidelines and manage broker relationships.
• Mentor underwriters and contribute to department strategies and training.
