Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an experienced Underwriting Consultant for Brokerage Excess in the U.S. market.

You will underwrite individual risks for acceptability, pricing, and terms, while developing market-friendly forms and endorsements with high authority on complex accounts. You’ll collaborate with brokers, reinsurers and actuarial teams to develop rates, assess profitability, and ensure loss-control alignment; mentoring underwriters and supporting department strategies.

Qualifications

• Eight years CL underwriting experience handling large or complex accounts.
• Excess & surplus lines experience preferred.
• Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.
• Knowledge of complex CL underwriting policies, practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Researches and develops new classes of business as directed, with brokers and actuarial/finance input.
• Reviews individual risks and determines premium charges, endorsements and exclusions.
• Achieves production and loss ratio goals with brokers through broker management and marketing.
• Oversees policy maintenance items, endorsements and loss control coordination with brokers.
• Develops and mentors underwriting staff and shares knowledge with brokers and clients.
