Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Five to eight years of underwriting experience.
• Deep knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and local markets.
• Strong critical thinking skills with ability to underwrite, market products, and analyze information.
• Excellent communication skills with agents and brokers.
• Experience coaching and mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth and retention of a mid-to-highly complex book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Execute underwriting strategies to achieve profit and growth objectives.
• Cultivate relationships with internal partners to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Meet with agents and brokers to market Travelers products and write/retain accounts.
• Identify new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Develop and execute agency sales plans aligned with regional strategies.
• Train and mentor less experienced underwriters.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
