Job summary

Axon 911's Carbyne Voice team builds the cloud-based infrastructure that handles emergency calls—the actual call‑handling engine, routing every packet with uptime in a life‑critical system.

As a Senior UC Software Engineer you will design, build and maintain this platform, ensuring no call fails and improving reliability for PSAPs nationwide, in a hybrid role with four days per week in our Manhattan office.

Qualifications

• Experience with VoIP/UC systems and SIP protocol.
• Cloud experience (AWS) and fault-tolerant design in the cloud.
• Familiarity with FreeSWITCH and Kamailio.
• Comfort working in cross-functional teams with clear technical communication.
• Ability to handle on-call rotations for production voice infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-based voice infrastructure with SIP routing and call state management.
• Build and maintain integrations with telephony providers and PSAPs for end-to-end reliability.
• Drive major features and architectural evolution of the voice platform.
• Collaborate with operations, networking, and engineering to ensure system visibility and reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support zero-failure goals.
