Job summary

CDM Smith in Orlando is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead and deliver traffic, safety, and multimodal projects regionally. You’ll manage work orders, support staffing and proposals, and perform advanced traffic simulations using VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Synchro.

You’ll also develop design reports and ITS concepts while guiding junior staff. The role emphasizes design rigor, regulatory knowledge, and client-facing collaboration to ensure high-quality project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering.
• EIT certification or FE exam within 18 months of hire or promotion.
• 5 years of related experience; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Task Manager or Project Engineer on multiple work orders.
• Support proposals and project staffing.
• Perform traffic simulation with Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, SIDRA.
• Conduct safety analyses using HSM methods and Safe System principles.
• Support multimodal and transit analyses and planning studies.
• Develop reports and Preliminary/Functional Design Reports.
• Design ITS planning and signal systems; provide peer review.
