Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Civil/Transportation Engineer to support and lead traffic, safety and multimodal transportation projects across the region. You will act as Task Manager or Project Engineer on multiple work orders, support proposals, staffing, and deliver functional design and preliminary reports.

The role requires 5 years of experience, an engineering degree in a related field, EIT/FE within 18 months, and readiness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
EIT or FE exam within 18 months of hire/promotion/transfer; is required where EIT obtainable.
5 years of related experience.
Travel may be required; frequency contingency on duties and workload.
Equivalent direct related experience considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

Serve as Task Manager or Project Engineer on multiple work orders.
Support proposals and project staffing.
Perform traffic simulation and capacity analyses using Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, SIDRA.
Conduct safety analyses using HSM methodologies and Safe System principles.
Support multimodal and transit analyses and planning studies.
Prepare corridor studies, PEL studies, and Needs & Deficiencies assessments.
Develop Functional Design Reports and Preliminary Engineering Reports.
Support ITS planning and design.
Address community traffic engineering and safety issues.
Provide peer review of traffic studies prepared by others.
Design traffic signals and signal systems including plans, specs and cost estimates.
