Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Traffic Engineer to lead and support a broad range of transportation projects across the region, contributing to both project delivery and business development. The role emphasizes collaborative problem solving, data-driven analysis, and client-facing communication.

You will manage multiple work orders, perform traffic and safety analyses, and contribute to ITS planning and design efforts, with opportunities to mentor staff and advance within the firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within 18 months.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Task Manager or Project Engineer on multiple work orders.
• Support proposals and project staffing.
• Perform traffic simulation and capacity analyses using Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, and SIDRA.
• Conduct safety analyses using HSM methodologies and Safe System principles.
• Support multimodal and transit analyses and planning studies.
