Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking an experienced construction professional to serve as the Owner’s representative on bridge, roadway, and civil construction projects in California. You will ensure compliance with contract documents, lead project teams, and oversee quality control and assurance across multiple projects.

The role requires a California PE license, 7+ years of related experience, and strong leadership in contract administration and safety/compliance. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
• 7+ years construction contract management experience for roadway/bridge projects.
• Knowledge of CALTRANS and local agencies; familiarity with federally funded project documentation desirable.
• Ability to effectively manage people.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Owner’s professional representative on bridge, roadway, and civil construction projects to ensure conformance with contract documents.
• Perform construction engineering duties on roadways and bridges; ensure project quality control and quality assurance.
• Manage professional/technical staff and oversee contract administration and reviews of change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying activities.
• Lead weekly project meetings and coordinate utilities; arrange for materials testing and grade verification; process payment requests.
• Ensure EEO/labor compliance; prepare progress and final project documentation per State & Federal requirements.
• Support upper management as a technical advisor in civil construction practices; maintain project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
