Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking a senior civil construction manager to serve as the Owner’s representative on bridge and roadway projects. You will ensure adherence to contract documents, lead a project team, and manage QA/QC and budgets across multiple sites.

The role requires a California P.E. license and 8+ years of experience on roadway/bridge construction, with strong leadership and coordination abilities. Travel to BKF locations and client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• California-registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
• 8+ years of construction contract management experience on roadway/bridge projects.
• Working knowledge of CALTRANS and local agency projects and doc coordination on federal projects desirable.
• Ability to effectively manage people.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Owner’s professional representative on bridge, roadway, and civil construction projects; ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Collaborate with field inspectors and project team to meet civil construction goals.
• Perform construction engineering duties on roadways and bridges.
• Oversee Quality Control and Quality Assurance for projects.
• Manage staff and contract administration; review changes and shop drawings.
• Conduct weekly project meetings and coordinate utilities.
• Arrange materials testing, surveying, and payment processes.
• Ensure EEO/labor compliance and prepare documentation per FHWA requirements.
• Maintain project scopes, budgets, and schedules; ensure profitability.
• Prepare proposals for professional construction services as directed by Principal Construction Manager.
