Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a transmission line engineer to design lines from 69kV to 500kV, develop design criteria, and lead a small project team. You will review models, verify right of way needs, and ensure compliance with major codes while collaborating with clients and vendors.

You will mentor staff, develop proposals, and participate in site visits and on occasion travel to client meetings. A BS in engineering and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software and ability to review transmission line models.
• 5+ years as part of a project team observing schedules and budgets on diverse transmission assignments.
• Knowledge to verify right of way, conductor sags/tensions, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range with cost analyses and criteria development.
• Lead conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies; coordinate with vendors.
• Direct a small project team and liaise with construction and installation.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work; travel for site visits and meetings.
