Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced transmission design professional in the United States. The role focuses on designing high-voltage transmission lines between 69kV and 765kV, mentoring junior staff, coordinating across teams, and delivering clear technical reports and calculations.

The ideal candidate has a BS from an ABET-accredited program and extensive PLS-CADD experience. The position emphasizes collaboration with clients, adherence to industry standards, and independent design

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 10+ years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, calculations and specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients on 69kV–500kV lines.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines from 69kV to 765kV.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specs, codes and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies with clear technical information.
• Perform independent reviews of others’ work including calculations, drawings and PLS-CADD models.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
