Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced transmission line engineer to design lines from 69kV to 500kV, lead cost analyses, and develop design criteria. You will review models with PLS-CADD, manage procurement specifications, and liaise with clients.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years on transmission projects, knowledge of applicable codes, strong communication skills, and a proactive mentoring attitude. Hybrid work with in-office days is required.

Qualifications

• Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD to review transmission line models.
• 7+ years on transmission projects including design, cost estimates, scheduling and procurement.
• Knowledge of right of way, sag/tension checks, plan and profile drawings, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with design codes/standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Proficiency with MS Office; strong written and verbal communication; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in 69kV–500kV range.
• Lead cost analyses, criteria development, routing and siting.
• Conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction analyses.
• Coordinate with vendors/clients to specify components; direct a small project team.
• Mentor junior staff and interface with client project teams.
• Identify travel opportunities for site visits and meetings; develop proposals and cost estimates.
