Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead the design of complex transmission line projects in a senior role. You will provide technical oversight, guide staff, and develop best practices for large-scale transmission work.

The role requires leading conceptual through design phases, preparing equipment specs, and ensuring compliance with NERC/FERC standards; strong CAD and analysis software skills are essential, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program; 7 years of transmission engineering experience.
• FE exam achieved and 7 years transmission engineering experience.
• Master's degree in Engineering with 6 years transmission engineering experience.
• Expert knowledge of transmission design codes and CAD tools.
• Strong computer skills (MS Office).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission design from concept through design completion.
• Prepare transmission equipment specifications and data sheets.
• Lead economic conductor selection studies and grounding calculations.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and clients.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and lead the discipline team.
