Burns & McDonnell in the United States is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead 2.4kV to 345kV project design from conceptual through design completion. You will provide technical oversight, lead staff, and ensure compliance with NESC, NERC, and FERC standards across complex transmission projects.

The role requires ABET-accredited civil engineering credentials with 7+ years of transmission experience, strong CAD software skills, and the ability to mentor engineers while coordinating

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in civil engineering with 7+ years of transmission experience.
• FE exam passed with 7+ years of transmission experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Master's degree with 6+ years of transmission experience; EPC preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transmission design codes and software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM, Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCAD).
• PE license preferred.

Responsabilités

• Lead transmission design from conceptual phase through design completion to meet project needs.
• Prepare transmission equipment specs, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Lead economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance, grounding calculations/studies.
• Ensure compliance with NESC, NERC, FERC, and regional standards; communicate interpretations to teams.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
• Participate in project scheduling, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning; manage change orders.
• Mentor and guide engineers; perform QA/QC reviews on detailed engineering documents.
• Travel as required and interact with field personnel for installations and testing.
