Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead design of complex transmission line projects. You will provide technical oversight, guide design staff, and act as an industry leader to implement best practices across related projects.

You will oversee design from conceptual phase to completion, perform conductor selection studies, grounding calculations, and ensure compliance with NERC/FERC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program with 7 years of transmission engineering experience.
• Or Bachelor's degree in Civil/related Eng Tech from ABET-accredited program, FE exam passed, 7 years of transmission engineering experience.
• Or Master's degree in Engineering with 6 years of transmission engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries and purchase recommendations.
• Lead calculations for clearances per NESC and other standards; ensure compliance with NERC, FERC and regional requirements.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, staffing plans and manage change orders.
