Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in San Juan, PR seeks a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead the design of complex transmission line projects from concept through design completion. You will provide technical oversight, lead staff, and act as an industry leader in transmission line design.

You will prepare equipment specifications, lead conductor selection studies, and ensure compliance with NESC, NERC, and regional standards while mentoring staff and coordinating with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 7+ years of transmission experience.
FE exam completed with 7+ years of transmission experience (PE preferred).
Master’s degree with 6+ years in transmission engineering; EPC project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead transmission design from concept through design completion.
Prepare equipment specs, RFQ responses, and data sheets.
Lead conductor selection studies, grounding calculations, and impedance analyses.
Ensure compliance with NESC, NERC, and FERC requirements.
Review vendor drawings and coordinate with suppliers and other disciplines.
Mentor junior engineers and oversee QA/QC across drawings.
Develop project budgets, schedules, and staffing plans.
Engage with clients to build relationships and pursue opportunities.
