Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead the design of high-voltage transmission projects from concept through design completion. You will supervise technical staff, drive best practices, and ensure compliance with NERC and FERC standards while coordinating with clients and vendors.

The role requires deep knowledge of transmission engineering, strong CAD/tool proficiency, and the ability to manage budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited civil engineering degree with 7+ years in transmission engineering.
FE exam completed with 7 years of transmission experience, EPC project exp preferred.
Master's degree in engineering with 6+ years of transmission engineering experience. EPC project exp preferred.
Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities

Lead design from concept to completion for 2.4kV to 345kV projects, ensuring conformance with project needs and codes.
Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, and technical bid summaries for transmission projects.
Lead conductor selection studies, lightning, grounding calculations, and NERC/FERC compliance.
Review vendor drawings and coordinate with suppliers, clients, and other disciplines.
Provide QA/QC on drawings and oversee field inspections and testing of transmission systems.
