Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead complex transmission line projects from concept to completion. You will oversee technical design staff, provide expert guidance, and ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and regional standards.

The role requires ABET‑accredited civil engineering degrees and 7+ years in transmission engineering, with EPC project experience preferred. PE license is a plus and travel is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering or related field; 7+ years transmission engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
• FE exam completed or in progress with 7 years transmission experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Master's in Engineering with 6+ years of transmission engineering experience; EPC experience preferred.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of transmission line projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Lead conductor studies, lightning and grounding calculations; ensure compliance with NERC/FERC and regional standards.
• Review vendor drawings and coordinate with suppliers, clients, and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedules, scope, budgets, staffing, and change orders; manage execution.
