Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead the design of complex transmission line projects in California. You will oversee technical design staff and provide best practices, from concept through design completion, including RFQs, data sheets, and bid summaries.

You will apply expert knowledge of transmission codes, conductors, grounding, and NERC/FERC requirements, while coordinating with vendors, clients, and other disciplines. PE preferred; travel required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent required.
• 7 years of transmission engineering experience required.
• PE license preferred; FE exam with 7 years also acceptable.
• Strong CAD and design code knowledge.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission design from concept to design completion per project needs.
• Prepare specifications, RFQs, and data sheets for transmission equipment.
• Lead economic conductor selection studies and grounding calculations.
• Quality review of drawings and coordination with other disciplines.
• Mentor engineers and drive QA/QC across projects.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
