Burns & McDonnell in US-CA (Brea / Walnut Creek / San Diego / Los Angeles) seeks a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead complex transmission projects from concept to design completion. The role emphasizes technical oversight, design staff leadership, and client interaction.

The ideal candidate has ABET-accredited civil engineering credentials, 7+ years in transmission, and strong CAD/tool proficiency. EPC experience and PE license are preferred. Travel up to 20% is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program, 7 years transmission experience.
Alternative degrees with FE and 7 years transmission experience; EPC experience preferred.
Master's degree in Engineering with 6 years transmission experience; EPC preferred.
Strong knowledge of transmission design codes, computer skills, and attention to detail.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D and related tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication; PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead design of complex transmission line projects from concept through design.
Provide technical oversight and mentor design staff; lead staff on projects.
Prepare specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
Lead conductor selection, grounding calculations, and NERC/FERC compliance.
Review vendor drawings; interface with suppliers, clients, and other disciplines.
Develop project schedules, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning.
Lead QA/QC reviews and ensure adherence to safety policies.
