Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to lead the design of complex transmission line projects in the US-West region. You will oversee technical design staff, provide expert guidance, and ensure robust engineering practices from concept through design completion.

Qualifications include ABET-accredited civil engineering degrees, FE (or PE preferred), and 7+ years of transmission experience plus CAD tool proficiency. Travel and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Eng degree with 7 years of transmission experience.
• FE exam passed or PE license preferred.
• Master's degree available with 6+ years of transmission experience.
• Strong knowledge of transmission design codes and CAD tools.
• Proven leadership on large engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of complex transmission line projects from concept to design completion.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, and cost estimates.
• Perform economic conductor studies and grounding calculations.
• Review vendor drawings and interfacing with stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC of drawings and analyses.
• Communicate compliance with NERC, FERC, and regional standards.
• Travel up to 20% for field inspections and client meetings.
