Job summary

Vertex, Inc. is seeking a senior support engineer in Washington state to serve as the final escalation point for highly complex client issues, delivering expert troubleshooting for data-driven applications, databases, APIs, and Linux environments.

You will mentor junior staff, create knowledge base articles, and coordinate with product and engineering teams to ensure customer readiness during pre- and post-implementation phases, including on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of technical support in enterprise environments.
• West Coast location or ability to work Pacific Time.
• Strong SQL and relational DB experience; REST/SOAP APIs.
• Troubleshooting data-driven apps with XML sources and web services.
• Networking knowledge and debugging across technologies.
• Linux/Unix, shell scripting, FTP and scheduling tools.
• Handle high-stakes customer escalations with composure.
• Analytical, independent, and capable of mentoring others.
• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Serve as final escalation point for complex client issues.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for data-driven apps, DBs, APIs, and Linux.
• Mentor junior staff and manage complex escalations from Tier2.
• Create, edit, and maintain knowledge base articles and best practices.
• Maintain shared environments and fulfill on-call responsibilities.
