Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Technical Business Developer to lead customer engagement for the 72.5-145 kV Dead Tank Circuit Breakers portfolio. This hybrid role blends product management and sales to ensure our DTB solutions meet evolving utility needs and position ABB as a market leader.

Remote position across the United States, with preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX. The role reports to the Product Marketing Director and to Global Portfolio Management of Grid Components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in high voltage equipment, preferably breakers or substation components.
• Deep understanding of US sub-transmission applications and utility processes.
• Experience in technical sales, product management, or business development.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with vacuum interrupter technology and SF6-free solutions/regulation.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI standards for high-voltage products.
• Ability to travel up to 30% - domestic and international - may be required.

Responsibilities

• Market strategy & growth - Drive U.S. subtransmission market expansion by developing new utility/EPC/OEM opportunities, shaping go-to-market plans, and securing product homologation.
• Technical leadership - Act as the primary technical interface, leading configuration discussions, advanced feature evaluations, and presales solution design.
• Standards & industry influence - Ensure IEEE/ANSI compliance, represent the company in industry bodies, and help shape evolving technical specifications.
• Partnerships & product innovation - Build strategic ecosystem relationships while channeling customer insights to guide product evolution, digital integration, and SF6-free technology adoption.
