Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to be onsite in Tucson, AZ, leading MIL-STD-882E system safety programs and hazard analyses across the product lifecycle. You will collaborate with Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware, Electrical, and Hardware teams to identify hazards, define controls, and verify safety requirements.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, a STEM degree, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

Typically requires a degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

Develop MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and perform analyses.
Conduct hazard and design analyses to ensure compliance with system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
Collaborate with customer safety representatives and Safety Review Board authorities to gain safety approval.
Work across integrated product teams and engineering disciplines to eliminate hazards or implement effective controls.
Support safety efforts from program startup through production, demilitarization, and disposal phases.
Prepare internal and customer-facing reports detailing system safety analyses and program status.
