Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer for on-site work within Raytheon’s System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department. You will develop and execute MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs, perform hazard analyses, and collaborate with software, hardware, and program management teams through the full lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in safety engineering, a STEM degree, and experience with DoD standards.

Qualifications

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

Develop MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and perform analyses.
Conduct hazard and design analyses to ensure compliance with requirements and standards.
Collaborate with customer safety representatives to clarify system requirements and ensure proper allocation to teams.
Coordinate with Safety Review Board authorities to gain safety approval.
Lead System Safety Working Groups with Raytheon and customer representatives.
Work with cross-disciplinary teams to eliminate hazards or implement controls.
