Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to join the Onsite team in Tucson, AZ. You will develop and execute MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs, perform hazard analyses, and collaborate with systems, software, electrical, and hardware disciplines to ensure safety across lifecycle stages.

Ideal candidates have a STEM background, 5+ years of safety engineering experience, and strong documentation/presentation skills, with DoD clearance advantages.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in system safety, systems engineering, software/firmware or electrical engineering.
• Experience writing technical reports and delivering presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E system safety programs and tasks.
• Conduct hazard and design analyses to meet requirements and standards.
• Coordinate with customer safety reps and Safety Review Board authorities.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across disciplines to mitigate hazards.
• Prepare internal and customer-facing safety reports and status updates.
