Job summary
RTX seeks a Principal System Safety Engineer to join the System Safety/HSI team onsite in Tucson, AZ. You will develop MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs, assess hazards, and implement controls across lifecycle phases to protect people and hardware.
Responsibilities include program integration, safety analysis, risk mitigation, and mentoring junior engineers, with opportunities to lead cross-functional safety initiatives in a DoD environment.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses.
- Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
- Experience briefing safety status to safety approval authorities at technical reviews or safety boards.
- Experience managing or owning a safety program.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and analyses.
- Interpret requirements and standards to advise program leadership on compliance strategies.
- Manage safety strategies and integrate tasks into the IMS and contract requirements.
- Oversee safety budgets, Earned Value Management, and coordination with stakeholders.
