Job summary

RTX in the United States is seeking Principal System Safety Engineers for onsite roles in Tucson, AZ. You will develop MIL-STD-882E safety programs, conduct analyses, mentor engineers, and coordinate with government customers and cross-functional teams to ensure hazard elimination across the lifecycle.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of safety program experience, strong report-writing skills, and a track record of effective safety governance in aerospace/defense environments.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience delivering MIL-STD-882E System Safety tasks and analyses.
• Ability to write technical reports and present safety status.
• Experience leading safety programs and coordinating with boards.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E safety programs and analyses.
• Interpret requirements and provide compliance strategies to leadership.
• Create safety strategies and integrate into IMS and budgets.
• Mentor early-career safety engineers.
• Lead System Safety Working Groups with stakeholders.
• Perform safety analyses of designs and drawings.
• Oversee lifecycle safety from design to disposal.
