Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Sr Surgical Technologist with strong competency in operating room support, instrument handling, and sterile technique. The role includes mentoring junior technologists, maintaining anesthesia and surgical equipment readiness, and delivering patient-centered care within a high-performance surgical team.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate independence, effective communication, and extensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation and hospital databases.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency.
• BLS certification (AHA) required, plus CST/TS-C/CSA certification or grandfather clause.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room, equipment and supplies for the next patient.
• Anticipates needs and assists with instrument and supply handling during procedures across multiple specialties.
• Maintains sterile technique and assists with decontamination and autoclave operations.
• Serves as a preceptor to train and orient new surgical technologists and other staff.
• Supports department and patient-centered care through teamwork and professional communication.
