Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Surgical Technologist for the day shift. The role includes mentoring other technologists, performing delegated tasks to support the operating room, and delivering relationship-centered care in line with Houston Methodist values.

The position requires independent judgment and collaboration with surgeons and the care team. It also involves non-nursing duties and department upkeep as part of service excellence, with spine experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency
• Two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
• BLS certification (AHA) and CST/TS-C/CSA certification or grandfather clause SB1239 per SB1239 provisions

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room, equipment and supplies for the next patient.
• Anticipates additional instrumentation and supplies for procedures and assists with surgeries across multiple specialties.
• Mentors and orientates new surgical technologists; serves as a clinical resource within the department.
• Maintains sterile technique and safety standards during pre- and post-procedure activities.
