Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Sr Surgical Technologist for a full-time day shift in the outpatient OR, Mon-Fri 6:30am-3:00pm. You will support the operating room team, mentor others, and manage delegated tasks with sound judgment, while ensuring patient safety and quality care.

The role requires expertise in instrument handling, sterile technique, and proficiency with hospital databases and procedure software. A strong foundation in surgical terminology and team communication is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency.
• Two years of surgical technologist experience.
• BLS certification required; CST/TS-C from NBSTSA or CSA from NCCSA or grandfather clause per SB1239.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room, equipment and supplies for the next patient and communicate updates to the team.
• Pass instruments and supplies during procedures as a surgical technologist and assist the surgeon team.
• Mentor and orient new surgical technologists; act as a clinical resource.
• Maintain sterile technique and participate in quality and safety activities in the OR.
