Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect patient care by assisting surgeons during operative procedures. The role involves setting up sterile fields, maintaining instruments and equipment, and mentoring junior staff.

Candidate must have a Surgical Technology credential and an Associate's degree, plus BLS certification within 30 days. On-call availability and collaboration with RN staff are essential for successful case turnover.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (American Heart Association).
• Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology required.
• Associate's Degree: Surgical Technology required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures; set up sterile field and assist surgeon.
• Ensure instruments, equipment and sutures are complete and functional.
• Precept surgical techs and RNs; mentor students as needed.
• Run Mayo tray independently and adapt to surgeon preferences.
• Participate in case management, on-call shifts, and turnover activities.
