Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect patient care by assisting surgeons during operative/invasive procedures. The role includes training other technologists and students, acting as a lead technologist when needed, and mentoring peers to improve efficiency and performance.

The candidate will prepare for various case types, maintain a ready back table, and collaborate with surgeons to adapt to technique and case needs.

Qualifications

• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days (AHA).
• Education: Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology; Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures with timely and efficient setup.
• Ensure instruments, equipment, suture are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entry.
• Assist in case organization and back-table preparation.
• Precept and mentor staff and students; adapt to surgeon preferences.
• Be on-call outside schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
