Job summary

Carle Health seeks a Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect patient care in the operating room. You will assist surgeons, maintain sterile technique, and ensure instruments and supplies are ready for a wide range of cases.

The role involves training peers and students, coordinating with the surgical team, and maintaining patient safety throughout operations. You will work under supervision, adapt to surgeon preferences, and participate in on-call coverage per department policy,

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA)
• Education: Associate’s degree or Certificate in Surgical Technology
• Work Experience: Accepts New Grads

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures with timely, accurate execution
• Set up sterile field and scrub prior to patient entry
• Run Mayo and assist as needed across cases
• Precept and mentor staff and students during procedures
• Anticipate intraoperative events and manage case changes effectively
• Collaborate with surgeon to adapt to case needs and preferences
• Teach RNs to scrub on various cases
