Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Technician to assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures. The role includes scrubbing, setting up sterile fields, and preparing case back tables.

Mentoring fellow technologists and nursing staff is expected to ensure smooth case flow. Responsibilities include coordinating with surgeons on case needs, maintaining instrument readiness, and supporting on-call coverage outside regular hours.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Education: Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology; Associate's Degree: Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Preparation for surgeon specific operative/invasive procedures that’s timely, accurate, effective and efficient.
• Instruments, equipment and suture are appropriate, complete and functional.
• Sets up sterile field and is scrubbed prior to patient entering the room.
• Sets up case so that another can step into an organized back table and mayo.
• Collaborates with surgeon prior to case and adjusts as necessary.
• Precept surgical techs and RNs to prepare for surgeon specific procedures.

Associate's Degree: Surgical Technology

Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology
