Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect care, assisting surgeons and training staff and students. The role includes setting up sterile fields, prepping cases, and coordinating with the surgical team to ensure efficient, safe operations.

Qualified applicants hold an appropriate Surgical Technology certificate or associate degree and BLS certification. A sign-on bonus and relocation bonus are available, with on-site duties and potential on-call expectations.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Education: Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology; Associate's Degree: Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific operative/invasive procedures; ensure instruments and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entering room; organize back table and mayo sets.
• Collaborate with surgeon pre-case and adjust as needed; precept surgical techs and RNs as appropriate.
• Run mayo independently when needed; adapt style to surgeon and procedures; maintain calm, confident performance.
• Plan for intra-op events, anticipate needs, and intervene timely for case changes (e.g., lap to open, bleeding).
• Provide teaching to staff and students; ensure turnover and case closing activities are completed.
