Job summary

Leidos Engineering is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility sector to lead design reviews and project execution for substation structures and foundations. The role involves direct client interaction, team mentorship, and occasional site visits, with a focus on seismic design and code compliance.

The candidate should hold a BS in Civil-Structural Engineering (MS acceptable) and may need to obtain PE licensure in CA/WA/OR.

Qualifications

BS degree in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience
PE license preferred in CA, WA, OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months
SE licensure preferred
Experience with Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD required
Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, LPile required
Familiarity with AutoCAD & MicroStation required
Strong analytical and technical writing skills
Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff

Responsibilities

Lead projects and perform design reviews for substation structures and foundations
Develop junior staff and oversee design reviews to ensure quality and schedule compliance
Coordinate with clients and staff, travel to client sites as needed
