Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years of utility experience to lead design reviews and mentor junior staff. The role includes developing bid/construction packages, coordinating with clients, and performing field visits to substations. Travel and site visits are expected.

The position emphasizes strong knowledge of steel and concrete structures, geotechnical aspects, and foundation design, with licensure goals in CA/WA/OR preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• PE license preferred in California, Washington, Oregon OR the ability to obtain licensure in these states within 3-12 months.
• SE licensure is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software, required
• Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile software, required
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation required
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills
• Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff

Responsibilities

• Lead projects as a senior engineer and review design work.
• Perform design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects.
• Develop junior staff through mentoring and oversight.
• Support bid/construction packages with civil/structural input.
• Coordinate with clients to review design scope and requirements.
• Conduct site visits to client substations and travel for meetings as needed.
