Job summary
Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility sector to lead design reviews and develop a project team. The role emphasizes strong analytical and communication skills, with site visits to client facilities and occasional travel.
The candidate should have a BS in Civil-Structural Engineering (MS with 3+ years accepted) and may pursue PE in CA/WA/OR. Proficiency with MATHCAD and structural software is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 3+ years
- PE license preferred in CA, WA, OR or ability to obtain in 3–12 months
- SE licensure preferred
- Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint and MATHCAD required
- Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile required
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation required
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff
Responsibilities
- Lead project teams on substation design and reviews
- Perform design reviews of civil/structural components
- Develop junior engineers and staff through mentorship
- Conduct site visits to client facilities and participate in meetings
