Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility sector to lead design reviews of steel/concrete structures, foundations, and related components for substation projects. The role includes developing junior staff, coordinating with clients, and ensuring compliance with codes and seismic loading requirements.

Preferred candidates hold PE in CA/WA/OR or can obtain licensure within 3–12 months; SE licensure is a plus.

Qualifications

BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
California/WA/OR licensure preferred or ability to obtain within 3–12 months.
SE licensure preferred.
Experience with design and review of substation structures and foundations.
Familiarity with structural design to seismic loading conditions.
Experience with design/review software: STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, LPile.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
Team leadership and client communication.

Responsibilities

Lead design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects.
Develop junior staff and oversee project execution within scope, schedule and budget.
Conduct site visits to client substations and participate in client meetings.
