Job summary

Leidos Engineering seeks a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in a utility setting to lead design reviews and projects. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with clients to deliver safe, code-compliant structures for substations.

The role requires a BS (or MS) in civil-structural engineering, and PE license is preferred in CA/WA/OR or the ability to obtain within 3–12 months. Travel and site visits are expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• PE license preferred in CA/WA/OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months.
• SE licensure is preferred.
• Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MathCAD software is required.
• Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile software is required.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation is required.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
• Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects.
• Lead projects as a senior engineer and develop junior staff members.
• Coordinate site visits to client substation facilities and occasional travel for meetings.
• Ensure designs comply with industry codes and standards under seismic loading conditions.
