Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years of utility-sector experience to lead design reviews and mentor junior staff. The role focuses on steel and concrete design, foundations, seismic loading, and site visits. Strong communication and writing skills are essential.

PE license preferred in CA/WA/OR (or ability to obtain within 3–12 months); SE licensure is a plus. Portland, OR preferred; travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience or MS with 3+ years.
• PE license preferred in CA, WA, OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months.
• SE licensure preferred.
• Experience with structural design review and substation components.
• Proficiency in Word/Excel/PowerPoint and MATHCAD; familiarity with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, LPile.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation; strong analytical and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and mentor junior staff on civil/structural components.
• Support bid/construction package development for substation projects.
• Ensure designs meet industry codes under seismic loading.
• Conduct site visits to client facilities and travel as needed.
