Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to apply expertise in protective relaying and controls for HV/EHV substations. You will guide engineering teams, develop relay philosophies, and coordinate with clients and vendors to deliver comprehensive designs. A PE license and 12+ years of experience are required.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with relocation support and a strong emphasis on mentorship and knowledge sharing within Sargent & Lundy’s Communities of Practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12+ years designing substations at 138kV+.
• PE license.
• Experience coordinating with firm/clients and vendors.
• Experience with relay calculations documentation.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI.
• Proficiency in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation protection and controls design efforts and reviews.
• Prepare relay philosophies and I/O diagrams, SCADA concepts, and configurations.
• Mentor junior/senior engineers and designers.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve engineering issues.
• Design single-line diagrams, relay/metering diagrams, DC schematics.
• Prepare engineering studies for client and peer reviews.
