Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to apply expertise in protective relaying and controls for HV and EHV substations. You will guide a team, prepare relay philosophies, and oversee documentation for complex projects.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and relocation support, with opportunities to collaborate across client and vendor teams and lead design reviews.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering required.
12+ years substation design experience at 138kV+.
PE license.
Experience liaising with clients in a support or lead role.
Experience writing relay calculations and design documentation.
Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI.
Experience with SEL, ABB, GE, Areva, Basler relays.

Responsibilities

Lead protection and controls design for HV/EHV substations.
Prepare relay philosophies and I/O diagrams.
Mentor engineers and designers on protection projects.
Coordinate with clients, PMs, and vendors to ensure timely designs.
Travel to client/vendor sites for reviews and field verification.
Review calculations and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
